In reading the reviews on this monitor, I could see a pattern forming. Independent consumer sites--like Epinions.com--give it a good to great review. Sites from magazines and so forth give it bad reviews. I wonder if the advertising budget HP spends on these mags has anything to do with this?
I saw the good reviews on some other brands. But when I went to the stores and actually saw the displays, I liked the HP models best. The mags said to be careful about what you actually see in the stores. The store setup, as well as interference from other devices can alter a display in a store. This made sense to me, but I still went with the HP. Guess what? It looks just as good at home as at the store. I paid $425 for the 19" model, and with the $50 rebate, this comes to $375. Haven't tried the speakers because I already have a set. Crisp, clear, sharp text is what I wanted--and what I got.
