The Bottom Line:
Excellent for the price.
HP has dominated the printer market and their success with monitors was unknown until I read the Epinion reviews. After checking out the market thoroughly I agree the HP w2207h monitor is the best in this price range. The picture is very good and it is adjustable as needed. I have two 22” monitors side by side and it was easy to get the same RGB color temperature on both. The HP monitor is a little better than my LG Flatron Wide in all aspects except for the antiglare screen and the slightly larger edge perimeter. I prefer a monitor with anti glare and a flat black perimeter no more than ½” wide. I want nothing but screen. While the HP w2207h has a 1” perimeter that is glossy it is acceptable.
An outstanding feature is the stand. I always remove a stand and build my own so I get my preferred elevation and tilt. With the HP w2207h the height and tilt have exceptional range and versatility.
This is a glare type screen so your main consideration should be how bright things are behind you as you view the monitor. My back ground is dark so the reflection is minimal.
This really is an exceptional monitor that has been out now for about 2 years. The next version of an HP monitor should be this exact same design with an anti-reflection screen and a ½” flat black perimeter frame around it. They might also include the DVI input so longer cables can be used without distortion. With the supplied VGA 6’ cable you cannot see any degradation with VGA compared to DVI.
I am critical with things of this nature and content to live with the w2207h for a long time.
