The Bottom Line:
Buyer beware on this one.
RESEARCH
Since my room was small, I narrowed by search down to 42 inch TVs. My research narrowed it down to the 43" Hitachi, 42" Toshiba & Mitsubishi. The Mitsu was just out of my price range so that left the Toshiba and Hitachi.
Reading the reviews on the internet, the Hitachi received high accolades so off to Sears I went.
Sears has all 3 models so I could see them next to each other. When I got to Sears NON of the TVs was viewable with a High Definition input. The analog they had to the TVs really stunk. So, i viewed each with a non-progressive scan DVD. I went with the Hitachi.
(I'll make a long story short about Sears customer service, it was really bad)
THE TV
From day one the picture just wasn't right. It was too bright and no matter what I did I couldnt get a crisp picture, even with my DVD player. If I stood up and was a few inches above the center viewing line, it was so much better.
Seven days after purchase, everything went green. I called Sears who sent out a repair tech. After an hour or so (30 minutes on the phone with Hitachi) the tech diagnosed that one of the video processor boards went south and a new one would need to be ordered. He said that it may be in within a week.
IN THE END
After the mess I had with getting it from Sears I told them to take it back.
