I've been looking around for a HDTV. Looked at sony 36XB400, excellent picture; however, far too heavy and bulky. Saw the Hitachi 43FDX01B at a local AV Store and was blown away. A similar Toshiba was there, and it didn't even come close to the picture quality of the Hitachi. The picture are the most vibrant and sharpest I have seen in a RPTV. I think almost as good as the WEGA. 16:9 ratio DVD's looks great on screen. Even my cable tv is fairing quite well. I need a fairly compact Tv for my condo and the 43FDX01B was a perfect fit. It has a very sleek console.
Set up was easy and the remote control is decent (for a change).
The only complaint I have is with the stand. It tapers towards the rear and I thought that I would be able to fit two AV components side by side.
Otherwise no problems so far.
Highly recommend this tv for anyone with a smaller space but wants a high quality HDTV in a larger screen format.
