Hitachi 43FDX01B TV -- Good Value but Some Picture Problems
As the Hitachi 43FDX01B television shows, they don't exactly give away HDTV-ready TV's. However, for just a couple hundred dollars more than you'd pay for a Sony rear-projection television (RPTV) with standard resolution only (such as the KT-43S75), the 43FDX01B includes not only the NTSC-standard... Thanks, RadioGuy! (updated: 01.21.02, 03.24.01)
UPDATE (January 21, 2002): original review follows.
I've now enjoyed my Hitachi 43 inch TV for just over a year. I sometimes watch broadcast TV using a "rabbit ears" antenna (favorite programs: ALIAS, Jamie Kennedy Experiment and Scrubs) but most of my viewing is DVD movies that I rent...

Sorry Hitachi Im moving over to Sony!
In October I decided that my 25" Magnavox Console was not hacking it anymore. I promptly went to every electronics store in town. That is when I found the Hitachi 43FDX01B. The 43" screen and Digital quality picture were amazing. At $1999.99 I swallowed hard and paid the cash. While I was at it I... Read full review »
Hot Hitachi 43" Projection
Graduated from a nice 2 yr 32" JVC unit. Went and looked at a lot of TV's at a lot of places, Fry's, Best Buy, Circuit City, Sears, Dillards, etc., etc., The Hitachi 43FDX01B 43" projection unit really stood out from the rest, especially in clarity, picture brightness and off angle (left to right)... Hitachi 43FDX01B
I have had this TV for about a year now, and I have really enjoyed it. I did a bit of studying about the differences between the available models about a year ago, and decided on Hitachi as they had the brightest, most brilliant color at a very reasonable price (~$1800).
I got this at...

The TV everyone in your den or studio can see!!
I searched for a large screen TV for a least a month. I shopped at least four different stores. To emphasize the pros, I ended up purchasing the Hitachi 43FDX01B at a store I really do like to solicit from. The pros outweighed the cons quite substantially as far as me making my final choice.
I...

Mixed Reviews
Having had success with earlier 50" and 60" Hitachi Ultravision sets, I decided to try the 43FDX01B as a replacement for a 41" Sony rear projection set. On the plus side, the color accuracy and resolution is gorgeous. Scenes on familiar DVD's display subtle gradations in color I had never known... Read full review »
Perfect for those wanting to upgrade to HDTV
I've been researching the whole HDTV thing for the last few months since my trusty old 11 year old 27" Toshiba was on it's way out. I've been kind of partial to Toshiba, their products I feel are top shelf, without paying top price. I decided on a 43" standard format screen because I felt that... Read full review »
Best RPTV out there!!
I've been looking around for a HDTV. Looked at sony 36XB400, excellent picture; however, far too heavy and bulky. Saw the Hitachi 43FDX01B at a local AV Store and was blown away. A similar Toshiba was there, and it didn't even come close to the picture quality of the Hitachi. The picture are the... Read full review »
Super Hitachi 43" HDTV
Got this set a week ago, and after a false start, which was not the set's fault, this set is impressive. Surfed the net quite a bit before buying this set for data. This is a relatively new model (September 2000). When we saw it in various stores, the picture clearly had more "pop" than others. It... Read full review »
