In October I decided that my 25" Magnavox Console was not hacking it anymore. I promptly went to every electronics store in town. That is when I found the Hitachi 43FDX01B. The 43" screen and Digital quality picture were amazing. At $1999.99 I swallowed hard and paid the cash. While I was at it I also purchased the factory stand and the component cables.
After getting this beauty home I was even more surprised by the ease of the first time setup. The menus were easy to understand and easy to use. The picture quality was AWESOME. Satellite, DVD,and VCR all have very good pictures.
Now the downside....
After 28 days the remote would not operate the television. Since it was a universal remote I tried it on other components and it worked fine. I also discovered that my convergence lines were not exactly square. The red convergence line was angled at the top on the red gun. Then the TV started to get a blank picture every so often. I promptly returned the TV back to the store.
Number 2 worked very well for about two weeks. Now I am having problems with the Green and Red guns over powering the colors. On both problems I called Hitachi and this was there response both times: "Wow that is weird.
I have never heard that problem before. Let me put you in touch with a local repair shop." My response: Never mind, I'm going back and getting me a SONY!
When the Hitachi 43FDX01B was working properly it was the most amazing picture I had ever seen on a projection television. After two tries I cant recommend this product to anyone. Unfortunately at this price I expect the product to work all day every day.
