Cons Weighs more than the 50" Sony Grand Vega

Hitachi has long been an industry leader in electronics, and they continue to show it again and again each year. This year they decided to jump on the LCD/P (Liquid Crystal Display / Projection) bandwagon. They have introduced the 50V500A onto the market and not a moment too soon.

After having stared at the same old 27" CRT tube for most of my life, it was time to finally make a change. College was over and a steady income was now present, making it evident that it's NOW time to buy the toys…before marriage sucks me in! I never actually realized until I started looking... This is my review of the 50V500 by Hitachi.

First of all, if you are considering this HDTV for your house, congratulations! You have taste and an eye for quality. As you can probably surmise I'm quite pleased with my purchase. But it took some work to get to the point where I was pleased... Read full review »

Fantastic picture right out of the box. Best sound I've ever heard from a TV!

Friends and family say the picture is better than my neighbors $9000 Pioneer 50" Plasma display. I compared the Hitachi side-by-side with Samsung & RCA DLT, and Sony & Panasonic LCD Rear Projection sets, in two... Read full review »

I reviewed the Sony 50" LCD and compared it to the Hitachi 50V500 and truthfully, there is no touching the Hitachi. All parts in the Hitachi are made by Hitachi.. and the same cannot be said for the Sorry...I mean Sony..

I also took a look into the Samsung DLP 50" and decided against the... Read full review »

I purchased this TV on Jan 31 from the Video Only store in Beaverton, OR. I was impressed with the overall look of the TV, and I liked the feature set. The price seemed reasonable as well. When I took the TV home that day, I set it up and proceeded to watch whatever was available via my expanded... Read full review »

Pros Picture quality, number of inputs, ease of use
Cons Too much down time

I purchased the TV in September 2004 at Circuit City because it had the best picture of all the TVs on display. I did some shopping around at Best Buy and Tweeter, but nothing else compared to the picture and price of the 50V500. It also helped that the menu was easy to get to and understand.

I purchased the Hitachi 50V500 LCD three years ago last October, but only after three full years of consumer and "hands on/eyes on" research -- mainly due to its impressive consumer reviews. Indeed, for the first three years this set was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Simply fabulous! Ease... Read full review »

I AM a real person- not a tech at HITACHI who is paid to put in the gleaming reviews.
I bought my 50V500A unit new in May 04 for $2700. Having never had good results with extended warranty I did not spend the extra 300 bucks.
The beautiful picture at last 6 months beyond factory warranty... Read full review »

The Hitachi LCD Projection TV is one of the first HDTV ready sets that has a great picture right out of the box. The picture can be even better with just a little fine tuning.

Throw away most of the things you've heard about LCD projection TV. Start with this. Most people are familiar... Read full review »
