Pros
Great picture!, A lot of cool features.
Cons
Universal remote is not compatible with most of my components.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Forget about all of the other "little" things, the quality of the picture more than makes up for any minor imperfections the 57SWX20B may have!
I am by no means a wealthy man, but I do appreciate the finer things in life. That is why before I make a purchase, I perform extensive research so I can get the most for my money.
I must tell you that I am no "expert" in the field of electronics, but I am somewhat up to date with the latest features regarding audio and video technology.
When comparing the Hitachi with other brands, the Hitachi had alot of good features, although I was a little skeptical about the quality because the price was so low. But through my exhaustive research, I found that virtually everyone who purchased this TV was ecstatic about the picture quality, which I deem to be the most important aspect of a VIDEO component (DUH!!).
I took my chances and purchased the 57SWX20B from Circuit City. I cannot begin to tell you about the exceptional quality of the picture. I currently have a non-progressive scan Onkyo DVD player. Even without progressive scan, the picture is outstanding. When guests come to my house, they always comment on the clarity of the TV.
As far as the sound goes, I am unable to comment, as I route everything through my home theater receiver(THX certified Onkyo). But, I can say when having the SRS feature active (a special audio enhancement feature), the 5.1 surround is that much more real, so much to the point where I have put off upgrading to the 6.1 or 7.1 surround.
I don't really worry about the little things like the remote or the complex A/V network system, as long as the picture is crystal clear.
