The Bottom Line:
If you have the room, go for a 65" tv. You gain so much and you won't regret it.
Ok, so you're thinking about buying a big screen. Hopefully, you've done your research. If you're like me, you've gone on tons of websites and looked over reviews as to which tv to buy. Originally, I was looking at the 65" Mitsubishi. But I had received Circuit City gift cards and they don't sell Mitsubishi. Now, I've never strayed from Sony, so I was a little hesitant. Anyway, my wife convinced me to go for the Sony 60" LCD. Unfortunately, I didn't have 4G to part with. So I went back to the RPTV. I went to Circuit City several times and compared the qualities of the tvs. I set my sights on the 65" Sony. Although, I wasn't sure if it would fit down my stairs, I still wanted it. So I got it, and of course, it didn't fit. I needed a split box. I went back to the websites, and I read that the Hitachi 65" was highly recommended. That was the choice. It arrived today, and so far, I'm extremely happy. The picture is sweet and the HD is great. Of course, now, anything other than HD looks crappy. A small price to pay. I only played for a little bit, so tonight, I will really check it out and try out a DVD.

So I've had the tv for two nights, and I have some good things to say. First off, when watching HD, you will be floored by this tv. The one thing I will warn you about is that if you are watching an HD channel and the picture is subpar, this may be because the program you are watching is not an HD broadcast even though it is on an HD channel. Another tip....Buy Monster cables for the component hookup. I only use the Ultra series but they go for $130 a pair, so use them sparingly. Now for the DVD performance, I was slightly disappointed. But I learned that this is not the TVs fault but the DVD player. Right now, unless you spend $700, your DVD player, progressive or not, will only put out a 480i signal. It'll be a year or so before you can get 1080i DVD players at a reasonable rate. These DVD players will be more like HDTV in picture quality.
All in all I would recommend this tv. It's huge and it works well. The sound is great (although I mostly use a surround system). If you have the space, do not think twice. It is a split box cabinet so it makes it doable for tight fits. If you have any questions, email me gravy1199@hotmail.com. Good luck, now go buy one.

I've had the tv for a week now and it is amazing. HD is unbelieveable. The sharpness this tv omits is fantastic. My wife and I watched CSI and ER last night in HD. It's like watching a DVD. Sad thing is that I have become so hooked on HD, I'm watching only HD stations. Analog channels are not as poor as people make them out to be, but they are worse. I'm looking forward to 2006, when all is in HD. Also, I have my Xbox hooked up and let me tell you, Splinter Cell is awesome both on the tv and as a game. Just a quick Xbox plug.

Well, my sister just upgraded her tvs to LCD and DLP. So of course it got me longing for new technology. Anyway, yesterday I picked up an HD DVR from my cable compnay and I wanted the Rangers game in HD. Let me tell you that for a 65" screen it is unbeatable. The picture is phenomenal and you really don't lose any quality by going up to a 65" tv. Granted, if you are watching a regular broadcast, then you do suffer. But for HD and DVDs this tv cannot be beat!
