I recently purchased this VCR from a local retailer for a very good price ($99), so I was not expecting a crystal clear picture or sound. What I was expecting was for it o last through warranty, but it didn't even do that. About one month into my ownership, the machine started eating tapes on a daily basis. What's worse, one of the tapes was a movie rental, costing me $50 to replace the tape. The machine has since been exchanged for a Sharp.
This VCR is rather enticing, its has 4 heads, is programmable, has a full function remote, excellent picture quality, very good sound, and a lightning fast rewind. It also has a front video input that allows connecting a high-tech video game system (Nintendo 64, Playstation, etc.) if your standard TV doesn't have the jacks.
It is lacking features such as slow-mo, GoTo, VCR+, and different speed fast forwarding, but again, this was not an expensive unit.
Programming this VCR is also not intuitive. All programming must be done through the remote, and making corrections is difficult. I still have not figured out how to cancel an event except by pulling the plug, but that involves resetting the clock, also not an intuitive task. The designers could have included the software from a more expensive model at no cost to them.
I cannot recommend this VCR to anyone.
