This VCR has been on active duty for about 1.5 years and it's marching along fine. We have it in our shop here in Kosovo, at a US Army camp, and we use it to watch movies every evening. We bought it from the unit that we replaced and they bought it from the unit they replaced in the summer of 99. It's very dusty and dirty here and we've had no problems with the VCR. The generator power here is not as good as the power you would get back in the States or from a commercial power company and that hasn't effected the VCR at all.
The only maintenance we do to the VCR is an occasional dusting off, but we haven't taken the time to clean the inside yet--mostly because it's usually always in use!
I would buy a VCR like this for myself if I did not have a decent VCR at home.
The features are pretty standard for any VCR out their so there are no notable frills, but the basics work fine: plays all tapes well and frequently.
