Money well Spent

Pros Space saving gear with great sound
Cons None that I can think of
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  You are not going to win any db comp's or blow out windows but if you want tight bass in a small space I would highly recommend the basslink.
I own a 99 F-250 Ex-Cab with a Power Stroke, It gets loud in there! Ford in their infinite wisdom put 5"x7" speakers in the doors and the stock system sounded like... well you know. After installing an Alpine CDA-7892 head unit (great unit), Alpine MRV F307 power amp(not as great),and Orion 5"x7" speakers (not really that good at all, sharp razor blade in the head highs) in all four doors, the sound was at best still very timid. My main concerns after sound quality were space and the use of what little back seat I have. I listened to all of the self contained powered subs I could find, read reviews and talked to a lot of people before deciding on the Basslink. Installing it was a snap, I used 8awg wire and soldered gold connectors for power and ground connections, and ran RCA cables from the sub out of the head unit to the Basslink input. I placed it in the cab behind the passenger seat with the active driver facing forward. In the vertical mounting position it took a little patience and a few wire ties to make the install look neat and tidy. Tweaking it to my system was easy, all of the controls are right on the front and easy to use. The instructions are simple and straight forward. I listen to a lot of Heavy Metal, Classic Rock and Jazz fusion, not much dance or hip hop. Even though it won?t shake the windows in the next car at a stop light the Basslink provides more bass than I will ever need. The sound is clean, tight, and loud, never boomy. After listening for several weeks I?ve gotten a fair sampling; Very heavy music, fast double bass drum and lots of bass guitar, (Slayer, Megadeath) feels like someone is beating on your forehead with a small rubber mallet. Post grunge metal, bass heavy and down tunings (Disturbed, Godsmack) the sound is fat, full and very heavy. Classic rock like BOC or Rush sounds great, I hear bass lines that did not exist until played through the Basslink. Put in Al Demiola or some Zappa ( jazz oriented rock/Rock oriented jazz) and the bottom is smooth, full and well defined. I will change out some of the other components in my system (Orion speakers) but the Basslink will stay and probably move to next vehicle as well.
