I put an Infinity Basslink Powered Subwoofer in my 2005 Toyota Tacoma

byphungus Dec 29, 2008

Pros Packs a bunch, easy to configure
Cons Might be overkill for some people
Recommended it? Yes

I drive a 2005 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with the Access (extended) cab. Earlier this year, the factory stereo in it crapped out, and I replaced it with a pretty decent Kenwood brand MP3/CD player. I also upgraded the speakers in the back doors. Ever since then, I felt like my system was lacking... Read full review »

Outstanding subwoofer

Pros Extremely tight, powerful amplifier, excellent design.
Cons Whether you like it will depend on your musical taste.
Recommended it? Yes

Ok, my review should weigh pretty heavily considering what this subwoofer has to overcome to be heard. I had it installed at Circuit City after hearing it in comparison to three models of Bazooka powered subwoofers in the store and in two installations. The Bazooka models clipped early, which led... So Awesome, I now have a Perma-Grin!

Pros Amp and Sub built together make the unit very compact Great price!
Cons None!!!
Recommended it? Yes

My stock stereo in my car died and I decided that rather than pay $250 for a new stock stereo, I'd spend $150 and get a Kenwood deck that played MP3's. Once I did, it seemed my sound quality was ruined. I lost most of my bass. So I swapped out my 6 1/2" stock GM Delco door speakers for a pair of... Read full review »

Worth the extra bucks

Pros Compact Design. Clean & Clear Bass
Cons None
Recommended it? Yes

I first started looking for a subwoofer a little after I got my car and I just wanted more bass. I was looking at powered subwoofers, because I drive a small car (1999 Kia Sephia) and I wanted to still have room in my trunk for my snowboard, and my golf bag at times. I looked at some of the other... Read full review »

Truck EX cab - almost too much

bymgj71 Oct 7, 2002
14 Helpfuls 15 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Compact, complete package, deep bass sound
Cons Almost too much for a truck, hard to control output.
Recommended it? Yes

The speaker was a true indulgence, but it really works well. Im shocked at the deep bass from the 10" woofer. It is compact/hidden away, but that makes using controls on the box difficult. I lost very little space in my Silverado extended cab truck. I probably could have used an 8" or really... Read full review »

Pros Space saving gear with great sound
Cons None that I can think of

I own a 99 F-250 Ex-Cab with a Power Stroke, It gets loud in there! Ford in their infinite wisdom put 5"x7" speakers in the doors and the stock system sounded like... well you know. After installing an Alpine CDA-7892 head unit (great unit), Alpine MRV F307 power amp(not as great),and Orion 5"x7"... Read full review »

Infinity Basslink

Pros Great sound, small size, remote control, built-in crossover, good instruction manual.
Cons none
Recommended it? Yes

I wanted a little more bass in the factory system of my S-10 extended cab pick-up. I'm in my late 50's and didn't need to be heard by the neighbors, just needed a little more low end bass. I didn't want to give up all the space behind the seats so the Basslink seemed to be the solution. I also... Read full review »

A Great, Compact Addition to a Stock System!!!

bymimestatic Jun 27, 2004

Pros Big bass in a small package, inexpensive, Infinity quality.
Cons Installation instructions not dummy friendly.

Installation:

This was my first time attempting to install a piece of car audio equipment, and for someone with my lack of experience, it sure wasn't easy. The instructions that Infinity sends with the unit are confusing at best, and I had to do some online research just to be able to... Read full review »

Great All-Around Package

Pros Price, size, ease of installation

I installed the Basslink into my '98 Ford Contour about a week ago. I purchased the unit for $185 from an eBay seller (why do retail outlets charge over $100 more?), and purchased a 10-gauge amp wiring kit from Crutchfield for about $25.

Installation:

Compared to a traditional... Read full review »

A great solution.

Pros Great sound in a small package, best all-in-one amplified sub that I have heard.
Cons Cheesy mounting.

I had a Basslink installed in my 94 Ford Crown Victoria, and I feel it is the perfect solution to getting great sound without breaking the bank or losing your trunk. I ordered the Basslink through an internet retailer off of eBay, and had it installed at my local Circuit City. I paid $200 for the... Read full review »

Infinity Basslink 200-Watt, Dual 10" Powered Subwoofer System (Black)

The BassLink line includes everything you need for great bass in your car, with no hassle. This system includes a round 10-inch woofer, a round 10-inch passive radiator and a 200-watt Class D amplifier, plus all the controls you need to integrate its sound with your existing system. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally for easy placement in any car. Everything you need for great bass in your car, with no hassle. Click to enlarge. Remote level control included. Mount BassLink vertically or horizontally. Click to enlarge. Designed to deliver low frequencies in virtually any car audio system, BassLink truly has universal appeal. Small in size but big in output, BassLink requires a mere .75 cubic feet of trunk space yet produces enough bass to wake up the neighborhood. BassLink consists of a 10-inch subwoofer, 10-inch passive radiator and a 200-watt Class D amplifier housed in a rigid polymer enclosure, all carefully engineered to work together as a unique, integrated system. The extremely versatile BassLink accepts both speaker- and line-level inputs, and it provides an internal low-pass filter, proprietary signal processing and abundant amplification. The BassLink system features a servo-control circuit that continually monitors the voice coil's position in the magnetic gap and prevents the distortion that occurs when a conventional woofer is overdriven. By integrating cone-excursion information with the instantaneous demands of the music, BassLink can extract loud and deep bass from an enclosure smaller than any before. BassLink includes a fixed, 2nd-order, high-pass filter that eliminates the possibility of over-excursion below Fb, the resonant (tuned) frequency of the vented box. This allows the excursion- monitoring circuit to focus on the excursion at the more meaningful frequencies at and above Fb. The result is a significant increase in bass output. User-adjustable controls allow listeners to set the system's response to achieve optimum performance based on the vehicle's cabin gain or transfer function. These controls include: a 0- or 180-degree phase switch; a continuously variable electronic low-pass filter that is adjustable between 70 and 100Hz; variable input sensitivity; and Bass EQ that provides for adjustments between +3 and -6dB. BassLink's frequency response in a typical vehicle is 20 to 100Hz (+/-3dB), but this varies according to the vehicle and user adjustments. At maximum gain, the system can accept inputs as low as 250mV. BassLink can accept up to four channels of input--to provide nonfading bass--either from line-level signals through four RCA jacks or from high-level signals through a pair of Molex connectors, allowing BassLink to be easily connected to OEM systems. If using the speaker-level inputs, an audio-sense circuit will turn on the amplifier whenever a signal is present. If the RCAs are used, a 12-volt, remote-turn-on lead is required. The system has barrier strip connections for power, ground and remote turn-on.
