The Bottom Line:
Serious design flaw.
I bought an Infinity BassLink II from Crutchfield. Instead of installing it myself, I opted to let the pros do it- I'm pretty finicky about my car, 2001 Cadillac Deville, and I didn't want to break anything. I took it to a reputable audio shop.
Driving out of the lot, it sounded great. I couldn't believe that you could get that kind of bass out of a 10 inch sub.
After driving for about 15 minutes, it started shorting out. I called the audio shop, and they told me to bring it back.
By the time I got back to the shop, there was no bass coming out of it- only popping and cracking. The speaker was blown.
Crutchfield was great- they immediately shipped me another one, and expedited the shipping.
Round II.
I took the new Basslink to the audio shop, and they installed it. Sounded like a dream. Drove it off of the lot, and the exact same thing happened, except this time it blew it's own 25 watt fuse. The speaker was blown, and you could smell it burning.
So I talked to Crutchfield again, and they believe I just had "bad luck"- got two defective units in a row. They're sending me a third one.
Kudos to Crutchfield, but thumbs down to the BassLink II.
