The Bottom Line:
Buy it - - you'll love these speakers.
After I did research I bought these infinity speakers and coupled them with my Yamaha 6.1 channel receiver. I am not an expert by any means, but I do know what sounds clear and crisp. The separate power amp also gives me more control over the base, and each individual speaker is modifiable to your listening taste and the size of the room.
I was hesitant to spend the slightly higher price for the infinity speakers but in the end I really feel like I got the best speaker package available for surround sound and overall listening. I was going to go with the Bose AM10 package but side by side comparisons and the infinity simply provided a higher range of tones without giving up any mid range sounds.
The clarity is crisp, even at higher levels and has no popping or distortion whatsoever. Our surround sound movies are now fantastic. My friend actually heard my system and went out and bought the same package.
Also, the speaker wire is fairly decent 16 gauge so it wasn't neccessary to go and purchase better wiring like you sometimes have to do with cheaper speaker packages.
One Con: the J-hooks that come standard with the speakers for mounting on the wall do not allow for up and down pivoting, only side to side. I was able to fix this by purchasing a set of after market wall mounting brackets for 25 bucks and added them onto the j-hooks. Now I can completely pivot the speakers in any direction (ie: from the back wall downwards towards the sofa).
I would buy it again tomorrow. Very happy.
