Great Speakers At Great Price
Pros
Great sound and looks. Comes with speaker wire and wall mounts.
Cons
Price drop sucks if you paid retail. Mid-range not as full as I'd like.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I'd recommend these for anyone needing a set of 5.1 speakers. Results are excellent.
These speakers can be had for less than 1/2 their original price. They are discontinued by Infinity. They've been replaced by a new line from infinity which has a different appearance. Functionally, the new ones appear to be the same as the TSS 750, making this an excellent deal.
The first thing you'll notice about these speakers is that they're very heavy. This is a good indicator of quality drivers. They may be well worth the $699 list price but I find them to be really well worth the $350 they're going for presently.
These speakers create excellent sound for movies. I'm a bit disappointed in their ability to play music but that's common with small speakers. The mid-range is certainly lacking. The only way to get good sound for music it to buy a set of large front speakers with 8"+ woofers. Small speakers will never reproduce the full range needed for good music playback. I hope to buy some Infinity Beta 40's at some point and use the TSS 750 fronts as surrounds for a 7.1 system.
Take the necessary time to calibrate your receiver with these speakers for the best results. Also use digital coax or digital optical connections from your DVD player to your receiver. This made a huge difference in the sound quality. I had to turn down the sub frequency response because it can produce more bass than I like.
These speakers come with ample speaker wire and stands for wall mounting. That was a nice bonus. They look nice in the room too.
I would not recommend buying speakers for anything else from Vanns.com as they will not refund your money if the price drops the following week. They will make you return the speakers over refunding you the difference. They also take a long time to ship.
