Not worth the money or the headaches

Pros DVD/GPS combo unit.
Cons Poor customer service. Poor quality of product.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  My review speaks for itself. You are better off buying 2 separate units and it would actually end up being less costly.
I just had to share my experience with the purchase of the GD-70 GPS/DVD player manufactured by Initial Technologies. The original unit was purchased sometime in 2005 from QVC. I used the unit on one trip and upon my return, the DVD player no longer worked. I was instructed to return the unit to Global Navigations Inc.. Although my unit was still covered under warranty for parts, I was charged $99.99 for labor and then persuaded to pay another $50.00 for an extended warranty (or insurance as they put it). Not long before receiving the replacement unit, I experienced a similar problem wherein the unit was unable to read the discs. I contacted the insurance company from whom I bought the policy and was advised that since the original unit was still under the manufacturers warranty, I was to return it to them (once again at a cost of $99.99). However, I was told that I could submit the bill to the insurance carrier when I received same.

It's been approximately 2 months now since I returned the 2nd unit. Global Navigations showed no hesitation in cashing my check but they have advised me that they are short on inventory for the GD-72 which is the replacement for the GD-70. (The strange thing is that they are available to be purchased at the retail level) This brings my story up to date. In essence, I paid $700 for the original unit which worked on one trip... then an addition $100 for the 1st repair/replacement., then $50 for the insurance, then an additional $100 for the 2nd repair/replacement. So I ask, would you buy anything from this company?
