Dell Inkjet 720 Printer, Suits our/her needs, but will it last like our old HP

bypopsrocks Sep 22, 2005

Pros Good price and good enough quality.
Cons Cheaply made as far as feel.
Recommended it? Yes

My fourth child, second daughter is off to college this year. She's the first of our five children that opted to go away to school. This at least helps free up my pc and printer at home. The others did work on my PC, our only home computer.

Even so I still had to help... Read full review »

A Simple Printer for Modest Needs

byscmrak Jul 19, 2005
53 Helpfuls 54 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros dirt-simple setup, easy-to-use drivers, inexpensive
Cons fairly slow, moderate text quality, WinXP/2000 support only, typically expensive refills
Recommended it? Yes

Well, our old Canon color printer had been in the process of biting the dust - paper jams, funky print quality, the whole nine yards - and there I was in the process of ordering a new computer from Dell Direct. As long as I was talking to the folks down in Austin, I figured, I might as well spring... Read full review »

Dell 720 Inkjet Printer

Pros Good output
Cons Cheap quality, expensive ink, ONLY works on Win2k/XP
Recommended it? No

This Dell 720 Printer came for free with the Dell Dimension PC I ordered a couple of months ago. I really didn't need another printer since I already have a superior HP model, but it came as part of a free promotion and there wasn't really an option not to get it. My intention was to keep my HP... Read full review »

Stab Me In The Eye, Instead

Pros Ummmm.....Can't really think of any. Nope. Not a one.
Cons Everything about this demon box.
Recommended it? No

There was an old comic book motif known as "injury-to-eye," utilized heavily in the pulp era of the early 20th century. When you wanted to make the bad guy look really, really BAD, you let him threaten/perform some act against the hero's eyeball...Dave Sim makes note of this in his Cerebus series,... Sell it on eBay before you use it - it's worthless with no ink!

Pros Great for Dell!
Cons Bad for you!
Recommended it? No

This disposable, rebranded *Lexmark* printer is an extremely poor value at any price. Don't be fooled by the enticement of getting a free printer with your new Dell computer system. For starters, it comes with "trial-sized" ink cartridges that immediately need replacing at considerable expense. As... Read full review »

You get what you pay for

Pros Inexpensive, small footprint, uses USB 2.0, NORMAL quality printing is suitable for most...
Cons Problems with cartridges, print quality is not as good as many other printers
Recommended it? No

Like everyone else has said, it's worth nothing. Before this printer (came with the new Dell), I used an HP Photosmart for 3 years. The quality between the two is extremely apparent, the HP is still printing great pictures and documents at my brother's house (*grumble*), while this one clogs up... Read full review »

Bad Printer !

byjaseypap Feb 8, 2008
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros It does look good on the desk
Cons Too much ink wasted by cleaning nozzles
Recommended it? No

First of all, the ink cartridges are extremely expensive. The color cartridges always has one color which runs out before the others. In my case it is the cyan that goes first. Also, the nozzles are in need of constant cleaning. This uses a lot of ink in the process. This is claimed to be a photo... Read full review »

Not Bad If You Are A Windows XP/2000 User

byonlineapps Jan 23, 2007

Pros Simple to set up, small
Cons Windows 2000 and XP only
Recommended it? Yes

I've got three operating systems: Windows, Kubuntu Linux, and Mac OS X. If you only know what Windows is, this printer is for you. If you use pre-Windows 2000, Mac OS X or any type of Linux, keep looking. I got this machine with the Dell Dimension 4700, and have had it for three years. It works... Read full review »

cartridge stall

byarooney Oct 18, 2006

Pros free. Handles text decently
Cons Expensive cartridges. Unjustified "cartridge stall" warning. Low photo quality.
Recommended it? No

This printer worked well for text and basic graphics (excel graphs) for the first year of ownership.

However, suddenly it decided that it didn't like printing, and every so often will display a "cartridge stall" warning. I have searched this through Yahoo! and it seems to be a fairly... Read full review »

Dell 720 , just plain Blows as a printer

bymstrmstr Dec 4, 2005
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Sturdy box for alternate shipping. No other pro remark is even remotely possible here.
Cons 100% waste of space and time. This unit prints like a 4 year old... Badly
Recommended it? No

Yes, This DELL 720 printer just blows. It is as good as handwriting but not much better. Horrible graphics when doing page copy. Uses the most expensive in cartridges.
In fact the price of a single cartridge is the same or more than buying a new printer from aftermarket source. Go Figure.
