The Bottom Line:  Great Picture, Great Features, More Than Fair Price.
What better way to celebrate my graduation from college than with a new TV? My parents were nice enough to chip in some money to help me out, I knew I would need it. I've had enough of the days of watching TV on my fuzzy 19" RCA. No sir, no more of that for me!

Thanks to all the great opinions I've read on this site about the AV-27F802, it made my buying process much simpler. I'm usually very picky about large purchases like this, but as soon as I saw this TV, I knew I wanted it.

My girlfriend and I went into Sears so I could check out the TVs, I had no intentions of buying one that night, but sometimes I'm just too impulsive! Sitting there on the shelf were the kings of their respective domain... A 27" Sony Wega, and 27" Toshiba (flat screen), and my beautiful 27" JVC AV-27F802.

I knew that I wanted a tv with a flat screen. The picture quality is much crisper, and let's face it: it looks sweet! I'll have to admit, I was a little skeptical reading some of the reviews that were saying how the JVC looked better than the Wega, but once you see them side by side, you can notice a difference.

In fact, the JVC looked the nicest, then the Toshiba, and then the Wega. No matter how much I played with the Wega, I couldn't seem to find the right color settings to make it look (to me) as good as the JVC. The colors seemed a lot warmer and better defined on the JVC, so I was immediately pleased.

Upon talking to the salesperson, I bought the actual floor model that I looked at for a considerable discount. It was on clearance for approximately $470, well below was it was listed for normally. I have no regrets for buying the floor model, I ended up saving myself about $150 in the process.

I have a Playstation 2 that I play with on the TV, and it looks excellent even with the composite cables. I've very anxious to get a good set of component cables to see how it can really look. I also use the PS2 to play DVDs, and then look superb!

As for the inputs, there are plenty of them. I believe there are 3 total composite inputs, 2 s-video, and 2 compenent. There are a full 4 input channels on the TV, so you can have up to 4 different devices hooked up at the same time (Some of the composite and s-video inputs share input channels).

The TV that I got has the Picture in Picture, something that I didn't really want, but got anyways (hey, it didn't cost anything extra!). I don't use it very often, but I'm sure some people may.

The remote is nice, although a bit big. It even has a button to press to illuminate the buttons for low-light conditions, it's a very handy feature!

The only thing that I don't like about this TV is that it is very very heavy. I think the approximate weight was 112lbs, or something along those lines. I guess that's the price you have to pay though for a high quality picture!

Some people have complained about the sound. I think it sounds quite good (however this is my first stereo set), but I'm sure there is room for improvement. For my purposes, the sound is just fine.

Overall, I couldn't be any more pleased with this set. It has an excellent picture, great features, and a fair price for the market. Right now I'm going through withdrawl. I'm living in an apartment temporarily, so I left the TV at home to figure out where I'm going to live permanently. I can honestly say that I miss my television, and I'm stuck right now with my fuzzy 19" RCA.
