The Bottom Line:
If you need a large screen TV and demand great picture quality, top notch sound and the industry's best workmanship, this TV is for you!
I purchased my JVC AV-36260 about a month ago and it was the best TV purchase I have ever made. The picture quality on this television is absolutely amazing. It is very clear and vibrant. The sound is the best I've seen on any TV on the market without setting up external components to enhance sound.
This television boasts an 800 line resolution, which is clearly seen when using DVD via the component video input. Unfortunately you can not take advantage of this great resolution when using broadcast signal or cable because they do not provide any better then 300 line resolution. So even though this TV can display a top quality picture, your cable/satellite provider will bottleneck it. If you use DVD via the Component Video switch, you will get the full resolution, and if you use your DVD or game console via the S-Video input you will increase the screen resolution as well. Using these inputs you can and will get the best picture you can get on this TV, which is far superior to any other TV I've seen in this price range and size.
This model has slightly improved picture quality over its predecessor as well as the newly added component video input. The only drawback compared to the previous model is that when they added the component video input, they removed one of the RCA inputs in the rear. If you have more then one device that requires an RCA input you will have to buy a switch or use the RCA input on the front of the TV.
This TV is feature packed, I find the hyper-sound sound to be pretty good, and at a click of a button on the remote it simulates surround sound. While the surround sound feature is not as good as a home theater system, it is pretty good and a lot cheaper then going out and buying a home theater setup.
