Cha Cha Cha Changing

Pros 12 disc capability, remote control, variable mounting locations
Cons Problems after 2-1/2 years of use
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  I feel that I did get my monies worth. Heck, I played the changer for 2-1/2 years everyday. I should have purchased the extended warranty.
My 2000 Nissan Frontier came standard with a cassette deck. Believe it or not I still play a few tapes every now and then. However, most of my collection is in CD format. I wanted the capability of playing tapes & CD's. I went to my local Best Buy and checked out several different CD Changers. After looking at various models, I decided on the JVC CH-X350 with the FM Modulator.

My factory radio did not come with cd changer controls. So I had to purchase a CD changer with a FM Modulator. The modulator is a control that changes the signal from the changer to FM radio waves. You preset your radio to a designated station and the music flows out. However, this option will only work if you have digital controls. The old turn/dial to set the station will not work.

Functions & Features

Remote Control, 12 disc capability, 9 second disc changes, variable mounting locations, Random & Repeat Play options.

Installation
I have installed radio's, speakers, amps and other various mobile audio components in the past. However, Best Buy was running a free installation special. I just pulled around back to the Best Buy install center & plopped my rear end in the cushy waiting area. Check with the sales guy at Best Buy or Circuit City. They run these specials several times a year.

Reliability
The unit work great for about 2-1/2 years of extended usage. Even with rough terrain it never skipped a beat. Then, the music stopped & R-8 popped up on the control panel. After reading the manual I learned R-8 was short for a communications error. The instructions told me to reset the unit by holding the eject button for 3 or more seconds. The unit resumed working for about twenty minutes, then the R-8 flashed again.

Warranty
JVC offers a one year factory warranty. I am in the process of sending my unit to the JVC factory service center. The repair will be an out of pocket expense.
