The Bottom Line:
Good system, pricey
Bought this system new form Sears for $249 at discount. Retail is $599.99, but can be found cheaper. I installed it with my RCA big screen without problems. I had a Kenwood system that suffered some remote problems so this JVC was the replacement. It features just about everything you could expect from a 5.1 DTS system, was easy to install and setup, pretty straight forward. Everything is included in the package EXCEPT the S video cables. The DVD is great, for what little I know about the digital world,it plays DVDs and CDRWs fine. Has optical outputs, analog and composite out also. The remotes have small buttons which can be a hinderance to some, buut I dont mind. The only wierd thing I found about it is the crossover freq setup. While watching a DVD, it cut off the sub occasionally when set at 100-150 mhz. The sub would go off then back on. A bit strange, so I set it at 200 mhz and seem to work ok so far. 100 watts x 5 power, so I have advent prodigy towers up front and the JVCs for the rear and sub. Its really loud also, just as loud as my Kenwood. Bass is really nice and can be felt throughout my house when turned up. Not much else to say, if youre thinking about this unit I recommmend it, although the price is higher than comparable Kenwood, Pioneer and even Sony which have the same options. I hope this unit lasts longer than my Kenwood did though!
