Enter JVC's Everio line with the confidence that comes from owning a JVC.

Pros Full of features, versatile storage, 32x optical zoom.
Cons Entry-level quality only, stills look like cell-phone camera could have taken them.
Recommended it? Yes

This is JVCs entry level HDD (hard disk digital) camcorder. It can get you into the latest in digital camcorder media at about medium cost with somewhat of a trade-off in quality.

This camera requires no tapes or discs, but does come with a flash memory card slot which can be loaded with... Read full review »

JVC's everio is horrible

bypat21 Jan 8, 2007
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Hard drive, no tapes needed, size of camera
Cons Low light video, battery life, Software included
Recommended it? No

For the money I paid, I should have got an excellent camera. Low light videos look horrible. Everyone was dark during playback. The software that comes with the camera is horrible, too. It is difficult to use and if you own a Mac, forget it. You need to download another program just to download the... Read full review »

JVC Everio GZ26 ek

Pros Tough, easy to use and no media to bother about.
Cons Down loading to pc is time consuming and requires a reasonable pc knowledge.
Recommended it? No

My main reason for buying this HDD camcorder was due to the failure of my previous media camcorders due to dirt ingress ruining the tape head/drives. As this device uses a hard disk drive I figured this should not be a problem and so far so good. The camcorder comes with all the required leads and... Read full review »

Decent HDD camcorder, SD slot, a plus. Could have longer battery life (1.5 hrs.)

Pros HDD, SD slot, still camera, semi large Hard Drive space.
Cons battery life, formatting of HD and SD card.
Recommended it? Yes

This is the first HDD camcoder that I have owned. I got it on sale the day after thanksgiving for really cheap ($100 under regular price) Initially I was very impressed, no more tapes. But I have since learned that you have to format the Hard Drive and also SD card if you use it BEFORE using. This... Read full review »

JVC Everio MG-21U Model Hard Disk Camcorder, no tapes needed

Pros 20g Hard Disk camcorder 32x optical, no tapes needed
Cons Standard battery provides 1 hour and 10 minutes recording time
Recommended it? Yes

I have two older camcorders. The first one was an RCA that is very large, and uses tapes. The second one I bought was was a smaller more compact JVC using the mini DV tapes. I was not in the market for a new camcorder. This one was a surprise gift for my 50th birthday from my husband. The JVC... Read full review »

Pros Small and compact. No tapes or media to mess with.
Cons bad in low light and if you movie the camera around the picture blurs
Recommended it? No

I purchased this camera because we had our first baby on the way and wanted to be able to get some video of her.

I was excited by the idea of a Hard Drive camera and not having to mess with any tapes.

The problem is the video produced by this camera is REALLY bad. I've never... Read full review »

Less than Expected!

Pros Light weight! Great still Shots!
Cons Poor quality video!
Recommended it? No

I was looking for a good quality Camcorder. I am still looking. This camcorder does not take decent video. It is very grainy and fuzzy. It does take great still shots though but I already have a camera for that. I am taking this back and going with a another type instead. Read full review »

My cold weather camcorder

bymajcmortenson Jul 5, 2008

Pros small, good quality recording, good price, doesn't freeze up in cold environments
Cons not terribly intuitive, provided software is useless
Recommended it? Yes

First, let me preface this review by telling you why I went looking to buy a new camcorder in the first place.

My son is a figure skater...a very good figure skater. I am at the arena a lot (and I really mean A LOT!!). Dad can't be there most of the time, so in order to show him what the... Read full review »

Ahead of its time for good and for ill

byandrewbolton Dec 8, 2006
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Compact, large capacity, quality construction, great styling.
Cons Poor image quality (not just me, other reviewers agree). Downloading far too difficult.
Recommended it? No

The pros: this camcorder is compact, light, and looks great. Quality of construction appears good too. It's size and relatively large hard disk is great for weekend outing videos, etc. However, do not mistake this camcorder for a high resolution device. At best, the MG21U gives low-average... Dubious Video Quality

bytawb Jan 12, 2008
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Small
Cons HDD drive. HDD compression.
Recommended it? No

Because of it's cheap price (then) for new technology, I impulsively bought it. Which I should have known better.

When buying a camcorder make sure you have the biggest lens. The biggest chip or CCD. And watch out for compression of how that info is stored. The most realistic camcorder... Read full review »
