The Bottom Line:
Don't buy it, not your best bang for your dollar.
I got the JVC Everio GZ-MG37u Camcorder using my Air Miles program. It did cost me 7600 air miles which at the average cost per mile being .11 cents or so made this camera worth about $836 CAN. All that being said, for that price don't buy this camera.
Sure it's small, has a 30GB HD, exceptional sound quality on videos, BUT the image quality is to be desired, especially indoors, in basements or low light areas. I always record on Ultra fine mode (highest camera quality) and I am still displeased with the picture quality.
Also, the .mod video format is stupid. It's easy to change the file extension (just rename it to .mpg) and they work fine but it's an annoying step. If you leave the files with the .mod extension, you are forced to use video editing software that supports it like Cyberlink Power Director. Loading the .mod files into Pinnacle Studio caused it to crash for me everytime without fail. Very frustrating.
I've had the camera for about a year now and I will be selling it now because my new Canon Power Shot S5 IS digital camera takes better quality videos than my JVC HD Camcorder!
