The Bottom Line:
A quality compact unit with excellent sound and many features.
I bought the FS-V30 as a replacement for an older SONY min system. The FV-V30 is compact, stylish, well designed. The sound quality is very impressive for it's size. The unit has LINE IN (also called AUX) and LINE OUT plugs; not all mini systems have them. The LINE IN (AUX) is used to get the sound from a external unit such as a TV while LINE OUT is used to send sound to another unit such as an external tape deck. A remote control, AM and FM antennas are provided with the unit. You can plug a TV coax cable instead of the FM antenna to listen to the radio stations from your cable company. The AUTO PRESET feature allows you to let the unit preset all AM or/and FM stations available in you area (or on the cable). I only found one small annoying problem with this unit: After you rewind a cassette, the cassette deck motor stops with a very small noise that lasts less than 2 seconds. My dealer told me many but not all units produce this noise. I tried a unit in another store, it did not produce the noise. My dealer said the noise is produced by the cassette deck motor when it stops after rewinding, that there is nothing to worry about, it will not get worst, it is just a bit annoying for a perfectionist. I should ask JVC to confirm all this.
