Cops! Filmed on location at a town near you.

Pros Easy to use, recharges in little time, great sound quality
Cons Loss of your VCR converter is not good
Recommended it? Yes
This is an excellent purchase! With a new baby right before Christmas last year, my in-laws bought us our first video camcorder. I must say, we are quite pleased with this camera.

The JVC video camcorder is a lightweight, rechargeable battery operated, compact camcorder with multiple functions. You should buy this camera. This camcorder is one of the more inexpensive cameras around, $500-$600, and can be purchased at just about any major department store. It's very easy to use with very little time to learn how to use it. The JVC video camcorder comes with it's own carry-on strap and VHS converter. It uses the standard 8MM film. The VHS converter is essential to watch the 8MM tape on a standard video cassette recorder(VCR). This converter is battery operated and easy to use. Recently we lent our converter to someone and now it's missing. We bought a manual, non-battery operated converter and it has created so many problems. It's now stuck in our VCR.

The battery operated converter works so much better. It's also quite expensive to purchase alone- $50. Another feature of the JVC video camcorder is the zoom lens. It's zooms spans 3X in both directions. As movement occurs as your filming, the zoom span provided to be an excellent asset. It's auto-focus, as you zoom, is maintained. You can manually zoom as various speeds with your finger. The JVC video camcorder is lightweight and easily fits in the palm of your hand with your index finger on the zoom button. Moving while filming, the JVC camcorder has a stabilizing feature to eliminate the "bouncing effect" when filming.

The sound quality is excellent. In our experience, we filmed our child's baptism from inside of a church. Our videographer was set up off to the side of the alter, approximately 60 feet away. The sound quality was loud, clear, and precise. I haven't had much time to discover all of it's features, including how to place the date and time on your film yet. One feature I've noticed more recently is how to recharge the battery. Unlike many camcorder batteries, the JVC camcorder battery can be recharged at any time. I've heard that some batteries can only be recharged after the charge of the battery has completely expired. The JVC video camcorder battery recharges at any time and in no time at all. It's charged to it's maximum after three hours. The battery recharger comes with the purchase of the camcorder. A light on the charger blinks as you recharge and it will stop flashing when it's completely recharged.

It's fun, easy to use, and inexpensive. Go see for yourself. With children, it's a necessity. We've filmed so much of our child's early beginnings from the first day in the world to discovering the feet. You can never have enough film of your children. Remember, when family members tell you to put the camcorder away, just tell them they will regret it later that you don't have enough film of your children as he/she is growing up.

Last word of advice, Be careful of what home movies you play when your parents are over!
