I have owned the JVC HD-52G787 for just over 6 months now. It is an awesome tv. The picture is breathtaking. It will definitely reflect source quality. It does up-convert, but if the source is no good, like vhs or crapy dvd's, it shows it. But, with my upconverting dvd player, and a good quality dvd, it is incredible. HD TV- from Direct TV is like watching 3D. It is incredible, and the best thing with HD-ILA televisions is the smoothness of the pictures, no matter what the quality, it does not look pixelated. The only complaints that I have are minimal. The remote is only great for the television. It is not good as a universal. Also, changing video sources is a retarded set up. You have to actually go one at a time through the sources and cannot go direct to a source. I have overcome these problems by purchasing a Philips Pronto remote control and all is happy.
