I had never heard of the HDILA technology but thanks to helpful salesman we really made a great purchase , besides the value for the money , this tv offers a crystal clear display and compares to the picture of the lcd and plasma tvs. We paid for this 56' TV what others are buying low end 40 inch plasmas for. We have HD service now running through our tv and the HD channels are mind blowing. Although this TV is not a flat screen the size commitment is minimal , it no wider ( front to back ) than a xbox or dvd player . The only problem I have found is cleaning the screen . You cannot use anything like windex because it get in the space at the bottom of the screen and cause a "wet" spot that takes several days to disappear.
