JVC HR-S2901 S-VHS VCR - It is Lacking Something Important ...
The JVC HR-S2901 is very cheap for a S-VHS VCR (under $100). And it lacks a very important feature, which makes it less efficient for recording in S-VHS or S-VHS-ET mode, but does not prevent it from good playback of S-VHS or SVHS-ET tapes.

Good second unit
I bought this s-vhs vcr as a second unit to use to make dups. I wouldn't recommend buying it as your first for one main reason. There is no on-unit display of the tape counter. The tape counter only shows up on your tv screen and not all the time.

Decent unit for the price
I decided to try out an S-VHS unit,and this JVC was the cheapest. My JVC HR-VP680U has served me well for 3 years,and I expected the same from this one. My first shock was the weight of the unit,approx. half as much as the VP-680U! You might want to secure it so you don`t push it off the table... Read full review »
