A good VCR
Pros
Good picture quality (SVHS and VHS), easy to use, reliable.
Cons
Nothing
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Not a bad VCR, seems well made, and can do SVHS.
This is my VCR! Got it at a university surplus sale a couple years ago for a whopping $15. I'm not sure why the U ditched them, although I recall a prof getting confused by the circular rewind/ff dial.
It's a good looking silver-colored VCR. It's very light compared to my previous VCR (a 90s Panasonic), but it seems to be pretty well made. At least, I've had zero problems with it so far.
The Super VHS ET *does* look nice. To me it looks verging on DVD-like, although my TV is not exactly HD so its hard to tell. It plays ordinary VHS (i.e. most rental videos) quite good as well. For VHS, anyway. Personally, I think VHS is fine if the tape is relatively new, but the old ones get blurry and nasty.
The little circular rw/ff dial is handy for selecting individual frames and whatnot. I have to say I mainly use it for zeroing in on brief instances of female toplessness in movies. The image quality on frozen frames is good as well- at least no ugly static lines like my old VCR!
At any rate, it's a decent VCR, should serve me well until VHS becomes totally uselessly obsolete. It has successfully outlived my stupid piece of $%&^ Chinese-made disposable DVD player...
I have had fairly good luck with other JVC products over the years.
