The Bottom Line:
Great MP3 player for the price of a regular CD player.
This is a nice, inexpensive MP3 compatible deck. Installation was easy: front and rear speakers, plus two pre-outs for an amplifier.
I bought this player because I burn all of my CDs off of my computer anyway, and I've never used an MP3 stereo in my car before.
First off, the MP3 functionality and interface is great. You can make folders for the songs. It's possible to do a heirarchy of folders (with folders inside folders), but I just have one "layer" of folders on the root menu, and each folder contains one complete album. This means that when I first put in a CD, it starts playing the first song of the first album, and I can jump from one song to another using the left-right buttons, or I can jump from one folder to another using the up-down buttons. The face of the player will display the name of the folder when you change folders, so it's easy to find the one you want. There is virtually no load time between songs, and only a few seconds when you put in a new CD or change folders. In all, the interface is very easy to use, and accesses the CD very fast. And I fit 15 full albums on one CD (who needs a CD changer!). I HAVE NOT used this deck to do multiple levels of file folders. It looks very complicated from the description in the book. But with just one level, it is very easy.
Sound quality is good; I use this player to run two six-and-a-halfs, two fours, and an amplifier pushing a pair of 10s. Sounds great. Display is easy to use, and the remote is nice. This player DOES have the "ATT" button that lets you lower the volume very quickly, and restore it to the former level just as quickly.
One gripe I have with the deck is the limited number of adjustments you can make: It has bass and treble adjustments (no mid-level or 7-band equalizer), and the adjustments only go to +6 and -6. I would like to be able to adjust it more precisely, but in all fairness, it still sounds great.
