It is true that once you go HD, you never go back. So after experiencing HDTV for 18 months now, I wanted HD in any format I could get it, including radio. Thanks to JVC, you can now enjoy high quality digital audio without paying a high price. At prices as low as $174, not only do you get crystal... Read full review »

Pros Price at $199, easy to install, text is large, HD sounds incredible and aesthetically...
Cons No RDS, too little volume knob, and I recommend reading the manual. That's it!
Recommended it? Yes

After looking around for a new head unit I decided to go with one that pulled HD Radio also.

Most were pretty expensive, especially since we only have one station here that is in HD. Checked at www.Crutchfield.com, (which is awesome, go there first!!) and they pointed me to this unit... Read full review »

An entire HD radio for the price of a tuner, too good to be true?

Pros HD radio, low cost, good sound quality
Cons Auxiliary input requires extra components, screen not very fancy
Recommended it? Yes

When I was shopping for a new receiver for my car, I wasn't actively looking for an HD radio -- I just needed a head unit with a subwoofer output, as my previous radio, a low-end Clarion unit, lacked a subwoofer output. I saw this unit in my price range, and was astounded to see that it was an HD... Read full review »

Pros Simple, neat mp3 player with HD radio and surround sound
Cons No front aux-input, hard to use volume control, and difficult to navigate menus.

This is a great CD player that has built-in HD radio. I wanted to change the stock audio player of my Honda Pilot 2003 that could not play mp3 CDs. I shopped around and found this mp3 player that could do HD radio as well. There are quite a few mp3 audio players for $100 but for $60 more, I got HD... Read full review »

I have a 2002 Mazda Protege. The Factory stereo worked well for the past 4.5 years with no issues until recently. The display started to blank out and the volume knob on-off switch would'nt respond. Problems I could have lived with, but would have annoyed me over time.
Time to start shopping... Read full review »

Cons very hard to use anything but tuning and volume without manual.

Sell your satellite radio stock now, HD radio is free and it sounds great, HUGE signal to noise improvement over analog modulation. I found over a dozen stations in my area and all but one was broadcasting two distinct HD stereo music channels with different songs playing. The downside of this JVC... Read full review »

I received my JVC KD-HDR1 radio 2 days after its official release(3/13/06) on Wednesday (March 15th 2006) and installed it late that evening. To make a long story short, as far as the FM HD audio goes, it's impeccable. The broadcasters setup their audio chains to preserve the digital audio... Read full review »

I got this CD player as a present because my new job was a fairly long commute. It is a significant upgrade over the factor system that I had before, and I have been completely blown away by the HD radio. This is my first foray into the whole "HD experience", and I have been quite satisfied with... Read full review »

I purchased this with an iPod adpator also. Radio works great. This is in a conversion hightop van and the sound is very clear and clean through the Ipod or HD radio. The fact that JVC is putting out a CD deck that has a built-in tuner for less than $200 is incredible. As of today, it's the way to go to get a cost effective HD unit. I live in Galveston, TX (50 mi. south of Houston) and I get 33 HD stations, they are AWESOME! HD reception can go out in some... Read full review »
