Cheap product but you pay and pay and pay...
Pros
only good for infrequent printer users
Cons
very expensive to use as compared to other HP cartridges
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Avoid this product. The deceptively low price will cost a fortune in the long run. This product contains very little ink compared to other HP cartridges.
This cartridge has 1/3 the ink of my previous cartridge. Although the HP 21 might be cheaper than some of the other styles, HP is making a killing on this product at the consumer's expense.
Product Specifications
Compatible HP Models:
Officejet: 4315
Deskjet: 3747, 3910, 3915, 3930, 3930v, 3940, 3940v
PSC: 1410, 1410v, 1410xi
HP claims:
maximum yield per unit 150 pages (vs 450 for the HP56)
smudge-resistant
water-resistant
acid free
Benefits
1. Same smooth ink and tone and easy installation as other HP printer cartridges.
2. If you use your printer infrequently and change cartridges due to dried out ink rather than use, this cartridge might save money.
Negatives:
1. COST
2. Resistant does not mean waterproof or smudge proof
3. Frequent change of cartridges loses time valuable to businesses
My experience
I started using this cartridge when I bought the New HP F-380 printer. After a move, we could not find the cables for my printer PSC-1350 which used a HP56 cartridge so we went out and bought this new printer so I could print our packing slips for my business. The new printer requires the HP 21 cartridge or equivalent. Everything seemed fine until the low ink window opened and kept opening with such frequency I had never seen before.
The ink is smooth and rich and of the high quality found in HP printer cartridges. Unfortunately, this product is the cartridge required by the less expensive HP printers. This ink cartridge is making a huge profit for HP at the consumer's expense. The face value of the low price is clever marketing but at the consumer's expense.
On a calculator, diving the volume by the cost, I discovered that the ink for the HP21 costs 2.3 times more than the ink of the HP 56 printer cartridge! The HP 21 contains 5ml of ink for 2 cartridges -- 1/3 the amount of ink for 2/3 of the price! Whether you buy one cartridge or two cartridges at a time, you will pay more for the ink for this product. The only difference between the one or two pack is that the one pack costs even more in the long run!
My Advice
Avoid like the plague any printer that requires this ink cartridge. In one month or two, you will realize the cost savings to buy a better printer and then continue to save money on ink cartridges.
If you are stuck using this product, the ink does not need to be changed until about the third time the low ink window appears. Even so, this cartridge has very little ink and requires frequent changes for anyone who uses their printer daily, even for small business jobs.
