Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
if you want a full featured radio for not a lot of $$$..this is a good choice!
my ford explorer stock radio was cursed with one of those defective cd players that would skip of you looked at it. i treated myself to an aftermarket radio and picked this one after searching based on features and price.
this radio is full featured, great sounding, and reasonably priced. the motorized faceplate is a crowd pleaser and the mp3 cd reading capabilities are awesome! you can squeeze over 100 songs on a single cd by saving them as mp3s instead of audio cd files! less fumbling around for cds then...great!
the weak area of the radio is the tone controls. there is no simple treble and bass adjustment...rather there is a full featured eq profile editor. sometimes simple will do as in the case of eq. sometimes you just want to lower the bass and raise the treble and not worry about programming a computer...oh well. at least its flexible and there are eq presets to choose from!
another weak area is the faceplate. when mine is in the out position the faceplate rattles a bit. i'm not sure if this is a design flaw or a result of a goon who installed it and didnt know how to retract the radio. it may well be that the installer forced the faceplate and loosened it so it rattles when extended. when it is retracted it is quiet.
overall i'm very very satisfied with this radio. for the price you get an A1 featured radio.
