About a month ago I purchased the JVC MX-J900. The reason I purchased it was because I had been wanting a new stereo for a while, and the one I originally had been looking at (the JVC MX-J90) was now an old model. I wanted a new model. Well upon looking at Crutchfield magazine, I saw this baby. My jaw dropped. I read all the specs and everything and fell in love. The reason I went with JVC, is because I have purchased several stereos from them and have had great reliability, sound, quality, etc. from them. They also are user friendly, have great functions, are original, and have great technical support, which I have only called once, but it was to ask for a price comparison.

On to the features. The JVC MX-J900, has 400 watts of total power!! That's a lot! It is bi-amplified, has an extended super bass mode, and a 1 bit dual D/A converter. It has a programmable timer for recording. It also has a sleep timer, and a daily wake up timer. I find these very nice and handy. It has 3 preset equalization settings, and also has the capability of storing 3 manually set equalization settings. It has an AUX input and an AUX output. It has a remote control which works at almost every direction or angle you point. A triple tray CD changer, a dual tape deck with dual auto reverse, and an AM/FM radio that gets superb reception from anywhere. The AM/FM radio also lets you preset your favorite stations for quick access. You can have 15 AM presets and 30 FM presets. BUT THE CROWN JEWELS OF THIS BABY ARE (in my opinion): the Twin Hyper Power-drive 7-7/8" Subwoofers and the rollover panel.

The subwoofers are out of this world! They also have a separate control for them so you can control the amount of bass you want...get it dial B for bass?? The subs can go up to a volume of 8 and the main volume goes to a maximum of 30. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it is, I mean this thing shakes my windows!! My dad can hear it loud and clear in the basement when I turn it up to 25. I have not yet figured out how to get the Extended Super Bass mode to turn on, but I don't think I really need it right now. Actually there are 2 subs on each speaker, one big (7-7/8") and a small one on the front. There are also three regular speakers on the front. The sound is crisp and clear, it sounds excellent

The controls are hidden when the system is off, by a rollover panel. This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. When you turn on the stereo, a panel in the front rolls over, revealing all the controls and things. From here, you can set the clock/alarm timers, dub, control/edit the sound settings and SEA mode, program a play list, make it play random, or repeat songs. You can record from tape to tape or CD to tape. You can also hook a CD burner up to the system. The list of features goes on and on. But the most important things are sound quality, reliability, looks, functions/features, and ease of use. The JVC MX-J900 meets and exceeds the standards on all of these catagories, also with this system, who needs surround sound, the sound surrounds you anyway and it plays beautifully at that. Later models of this may come with Dolby Pro-Logic Surround Sound options.
