JVC RX-ES1SL A/V receiver

Pros Compact size, low, low price, awesome sound, many inputs.
Cons No onscreen display, no universal remote.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  For the average home theatre user this receiver is an excellent choice.
Just picked up one of these at a boxing day sale for $85. It does everything I want it to do, mainly take digital input from my DVD player and Bell Expressvu 6100 HD receiver and the sound through my Axiom speakers is awesome to say the least. Also have a Pioneer 10" 200 watt sub hooked up to it. These receivers are a couple of years old now so could probably be picked up for as little as $50. This amp could blow the doors off of many that sell for 10 times as much. It even has component inputs and switching but I run my video directly to my 42" plasma and just route the sound through this unit. I even hooked up my laptop to it and get awesome sound with all my downloaded music. My laptop is connected through the headphone output mini jack to dual RCA jacks on the receiver. This is probably not the best connection but the sound is still pretty awesome. Right now I just have the front left, right and centre channel speakers hooked up with the sub woofer. Adding in the rear surround speakers will give it even more depth and really make the movie watching great.
Just need to get a good universal remote now to control it all.
