This thing is garbage ! Trouble out of the box.
Pros
Compact. Interesting (but ugly) looks. JVC actually answers the customer service phone
Cons
Poor quality, speaker wires too small for rated power. CD changer slow. Butt UGLY!!
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Do not recommend.
I bought the unit in Oct 2005, and from day one it was trouble.
This is the ugliest piece of equipment I have ever purchased. But it got good reviews on another website, and I needed the AUX input. Didn't really care about looks.
The 5-CD changer will rarely play all 5 CD's without getting "confused". And if you don't load all 5 CD's, forget it. The thing doesn't know what to do.
It spends a lot of time seeking and loading CD's, and then more time reading them.
The system is rated at 500W, but looking at the wiring on the speakers, that is impossible. The wiring would burn up if you crank it that hard.
More recently I am having a problem (unrelated to the CD problem) with the audio. There is an occasional popping and static from the speakers. Like the sound of a dirty volume control. But this unit uses digital volume control, so this shouldn't be happening. Probably a bad solder connection on the PCB.
I am taking the unit to a repair shop, and will be leaving it there until they find and fix the problem. Warranty is 1yr, so I'm in luck.
My advice... don't buy this POJ.
Of course my unit may be a lemon. But I haven't seen any other reviews of this item.
