The Bottom Line:
This is a great CD player if you want power, clarity, and ease of use.
I recently accidentally cooked my Pioneer DEH-P4300 (whoops) and decided to replace it with another Pioneer, until I found that they didn't have the features I was looking for in the price range that I was looking at, until I found the JVC El Kameleon. It has a powerful (19x4 RMS) internal and, BBE II processing, and the famed hiding faceplate. I bought it and brought it home, and after I found "my" setting, it sounded beautiful. The amp provides a ton of power for an internal amp (I'd guess that it puts out more than 19 watts), and the EQ, while only providing treble and bass controls, seems to control the sound very efficiently. A word of warning, though, if you put the bass up and bring the volume up and you haven't upgraded your speakers, you will be soon, because it will blow the cones out. A great little feature for the CD player is the fact that it can read CD text, which while not on every CD, allows you to find the CD title and track titles. With all of these features, this is a great CD player for the price that you pay.
