The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this stereo to anyone in search of great-looking, good-sounding head unit.
When finally purchased my first car I decided to replace factory built-in cassette deck with something different. I went to the shop I look around. The JVC KD-LX111 ( aka ELKAMELEON ) is one of those pieces of audio equipment that takes your breath away.
It's beautiful ( even more beautiful at night when his red and blue lights shine brighter). Because I am one of those people who are to lazy to remove a faceplate every time they exit a car, this anti theft solution is a great help. You turn off the engine and ELKAMELEON, whit a quick buzz, disappears, blending evenly with the car's dash. On the other hand, if a thief knows that you have a ELKAMELEON in a car he could remove your stereo in a matter of seconds. So be warned!
As for performance of ELKAMELEON is great! You have a power output of 200W max ( 4x50w), Cd Text, CD Changer Control and wireless remote control ( I didn't get a remote in a store where I bought stereo - I paid about 15$ US for it ). You also have a great options like - Audio Cruise Control( automatically adjusts volume settings as your vehicle's speed changes) ,Light Dimmer and custom EQ with six sound modes (USER, POP, ROCK, JAZZ...). Display is multi-color, dot-matrix with contrast control.
There's a flash rotary encoder control knob for easier use which is motorized ( disappears in unit when turned off ), which can be used in both of ELKAMELEON's modes ( FLAT PANEL or NORMAL MODE ).The faceplate also slides down to reveal the CD opening slot. Behind this motorized faceplate lies a great CD receiver and with the help of built-in BBE II High Definition Sound processing every recording sounds much crisper and clearer ( especially vocals ). You also have direct track access ( for first 12 songs or CDs if you have CD changer), repeat (song/cd) and intro (songs/cd). JVC's HS-II tuner is very good and the only thing I don't like is that he is somewhat quieter then CD.
I would recommend this stereo to anyone in search of great-looking, good-sounding head unit. But if you are afraid of leaving this kind of equipment in a car choose something else.
