The Bottom Line:
I am very happy, I love front aux and JVC is great!
I had another JVC model in my old car (a 99 Stratus) but I didn't have the factory head unit (because Circuit City had installed that and apparently didn't leave it in my car the day of install, when I was heading out of state for vacation!) At any rate, the old desk had a front aux input, and I really wanted that again. I had conflicting reviews on how aftermarket head units would work with the Head Up Display (HUD) on my 2000 Grand Prix GTP, but I finally found someone with a GTP that said the only thing I would lose was the radio station and cd track displays on the HUD, not the speed etc. That was fine by me!
Last night I installed the stereo, it was a breeze. No problems to speak of and took only minutes with the model specific mounting chasis and wiring harness I got from crutchfield. I also installed a PAC SWI-X steering wheel control adapter, which took a little extra time, but worked fine with the JVC head unit as well.
I was surprised how nice things sounded right away, programming presets is a breeze, the wheel for volume is a definite plus as my old one had one too! I like having the cd info displayed on the face and I'm very happy with this head unit. I didn't want flashy, I wanted functional, mp3 playback, and aux input (for laptop, xm, and mp3 player), so I am very happy!
