When buying a new car stereo, looks can be very deceiving. At least in my experience. The SX740 is a beautiful looking car deck, however, it has severely disappointed me. It seems like a nice enough unit: 40 Watts x 4, 16 RMS. CD Changer option, and 24 presets. Aesthetically, it is gorgeous. It has a nice bright, stylish display, a cool retro volume knob, and it lights up like a Christmas tree in the dark. The detachable face is another convenient option.
However, it occasionally fails to eject, the display flickers and rarely reflects what the unit is doing, and shorts out several times an hour. The bass is pretty mediocre, however, the treble is great. Maybe I just got a bad apple, but ever since I bought the thing, I have remained hesitant to purchase another JVC product.
