The jank 940

Pros good display, high power, 2 sets of preouts, DSP
Cons Breaks very easily. Life span is about 4 months tops
Recommended it? No
About this time last year I was really stoked about getting my car back after transmission problems. The first thing that I had planned for it was to install my brand new JVC 940 cd player into it. I had bought the cd player 2 weeks prior to receiving my car back and you could understand my excitement as I went to install it. I purchased the 940 for many reasons. The first being the incredible display. It has numerous colors that brighten up any boring night driving along with a moving road that has a level meter to show how loud the music is playing. The JVC 940 is also filled with many great features. First is the high-power 40x4 wattage. This is plenty for most speakers. Secondly, it has changer controls and BBE. The BBE maximizes bass response. What I liked best of all though was that it had a built in DSP (Digital Signal Processor). Installation was a snap. I was in heaven for a whole 1 week. That's when it happened. The outputs blew. I had no rca preouts, no internal power, and absolutely no music. It was repaired and in less than a week installed again. 3 days later it stopped playing cd's. I received a brand new 940 and tried it one more time. Outputs blew again. This heavenly head unit was actually a piece of crap. I ended up swapping it for the new El Kameleon KD-LX1 head unit (see other review). To sum things up for you, DON'T BUY THIS HEAD UNIT!!!!
