for the money, this thing rocks
Pros
you can set each source up w/a different eq setting!
Cons
tuner?
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
thumbs up for having a sweet feature set & smooth mp3 handling. best bang for the buck
i picked this thing up after reading reviews here. not bad. i really wanted the alpine but the price was right on this one. the only thing that i'm not quite sure about yet (i've had it in for 2 days now) is the tuner.
the mp3 handling is great. it takes a few seconds to scan the disk & catalog the tracks but then it's ready to rock. excellent sound quality even with the stock door speakers in the 90 civic hatch. i did end up picking up some pioneer (ts-a1667) speakers as replacements and noted even better sound.
one of the coolest features is the ability to set the eq differently for each source. i set the disc player to one setting & the tuner for less treble. works great.
as far as the tuner... the fm reception in our 2 other cars seem to pull in some stations better than this one. not sure if i have a sketchy unit here or what. i'm going to try plugging in a different antenna just to see. bottom line is that i bought this to play mp3's so fm reception is not that high on the priority list.
otherwise one more good thing is the random play feature, hit mode & then rnd to randomly play the tracks in a particular directory, rnd again & it'll randomly play all the tracks on the entire disk. sweet.
