Cons Manual faceplate
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  For the price, sound quality, and aesthetics, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal on a car radio that plays MP3 CDs that you create.
This is one of my first product reviews. I have benefited greatly from others so I wanted to make my contribution. I started looking for a new player when my factory GM radio stopped playing CDs. I found this unit and an Aiwa unit for the same price on Crutchfield. I paid $229. The Aiwa unit had some negative feedback and did not look as good as the JVC so I went with the JVC. I installed the unit on Friday, October 11th. It took 3 hours to install because I had to take the entire dash of my car out. Thanks to Crutchfield, they sent everything I needed to make it fit my vehicle. Once I had it installed, it fired right up and sounded great. Now for the cool part, I put in an MP3 CD that I created on Easy CD Creator with 8 directories and about 148 songs. The player immediately recognized the CD, displayed a quick count of directories and files and started playing the first track of the first directory. The field ID tags display in scroll mode, which is very cool. You can random play a directory or the entire CD, a feature that the Aiwa unit lacked. I have been over some major potholes and have not had one skip. I again credit this to the Crutchfield installation kit. This unit has 50 watts a channel and has a very clean, crisp sound. I find myself always using the remote when I'm driving. I never can stay on one song. You can name radio stations as well as CDs which is another useful feature. It has 3x6 FM channels for a total of 18 and then AM. It has a Aux in, in the front of the unit which is also convenient. I plan on downloading MP3 books and other material now that I have this unit. I would highly recommend this product for anyone in need a new CD player for the car. Something else I found useful was looking at the manual online at JVC.com before I bought it.
