Dependable stylish deck
Pros
remote, MP3 cd compatible, store up to 18 FM stations, removable face plate
Cons
no animations, hard to manually tune stations, have to seek
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
This is a somewhat older player that i have found to be very durable, i would not recomend that you leave the metal contacts between the faceplate and unit alone
I recieved this deck as a birthday present along with some polk audio DB series speakers already installed by great people at Circut City. so i can't really tell you about installing the deck, ive never seen the back of it.
This deck features MP3 disc playback which means you can burn a cd with anywhere from 50 to 100 songs, a small remote which is great if your having a tailgate party, or in the back seat of a car, van, or SUV. there are 6 presets for your bass, treble, and "loud" needs all of which are customisible for your needs. there are 13 differant bass and treble settings, from -6 to 0 to +6 for both, of course there is the left/right and forward/back setting depending on where you want your sound. and the loud feature which enchances your bass and treble. a great feature for this deck is a removable face plate which is a great security measure, JVC provides a small plastic box to store your faceplate so it doesn't get damaged. The deck looks great in my 1991 Ford ranger XLT extended cab, the factory deck was the same size but had a plastic form fitting edge around it, in its place i put a blue neon radio bar that plugs into your cigerette lighter. the bar fits PERFECT, the faceplate is easy to remove and can pivot down for inserting and removing cd's the tuner is exceptional, there are 3 FM modes and 1 AM mode which gives you 18 stations FM and 6 AM. I can't think of anyone that listens to 18 FM stations in the same town, i have one set for my town, one set for another town about 50 miles away that i sometimes visit. I have found it hard to manually tune in a station that isn't automaticly picked up, i actually dont know how, i just get lucky some times. I mostly use the cd player where ever i go.
The cd player is above average for skip protection, i live on a very bumpy dirt road and with a 91 Ford pickup, its bound to skip. If i lived in the city, this player would be golden, i'll sometimes encounter skippage crossing rail road tracks or eventual potholes. MP3 discs have a lot more skip protection, i can drive down the worst dirt roads and it'll play fine for a little bit.
I would suggest this player to anyone who is looking for a sturdy player that can play MP3 CD's. It isn't the prettiest looking of players compared to the newer animation, photo, and tv tuner decks but it gets the job done
