The Bottom Line:
This is a great product offered at a very fair price. I could not be more satisfied.
I purchased the JVC Sirius radio receiver about one year ago, and it has provided my with great listening all year long. The particular kit that I purchased included the car kit, and I purchased the home kit as an addition.
Let's start from the beginning. Installation and set-up is very easy even if you are not technically gifted. I installed the home kit first. It just requires you to plug it into the electric outlet and into your stereo. I am fortunate that in my area I did not have to run the antenna outside. I just have it sitting on the table next to the receiver in the living room which is in the middle of my house, and I get great reception. After you have it all plugged in, you can activate using the phone of the internet.
Installation in the car is similarly easy depending on how neat you would like your installation to appear. This radio has a built in FM modulator which broadcasts an FM signal to your car radio so that you do not have to hard wire it into your receiver. This worked with differing degrees of success in an urban area that has the airwaves jammed with radio traffic. I always get a good clear signal in my wife's car, but I had to get an FM relay in order to get clear reception in both my car and truck. I imagine this would be the same for about any similar product.
The pda stlye radio is simple to use, and has a large easy to read multi-line display. It has ample memory buttons, and it even does cool things like alert you when one of your favorite songs is playing on another station. I also really like the fact that this unit is portable, and can be carried from car to home to office. Just drop it into its cradle and you are ready to go.
Of course, the reason that you would be considering any satellite radio is the content. You will not be disappointed. No matter what you like listening to Sirius has got you covered. It is just awesome, and all of the music stations are commercial free!!! Add to that tons of specialty content like comedy, Martha Stewart, and Howard Stern. There is no way that I can ever go back to listening to over the air broadcast radio. Did I mention NO COMMERCIALS?!?
To summarize, what are you waiting for? This is a great radio, and after over a year of problem free service it is still going strong.
