A Great Value
Pros
Great value, great sound, programmable features
Cons
cannot change discs while playing, limited equilizer capability
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
A great value
I needed to replace my old (1994) Aiwa micro/executive system, without breaking the bank. I was looking for a shelf system with great sound quality, decent power, and a reliable brand name. I found all of that in this model JVC.
JVC is consistently rated as a top-notch audio brand in all the consumer reviews (namely Consumer Reports). This system sounds great. The only drawback sound-wise is that the equilizer only has 4 settings (rock, pop, classical, etc.), but most shelf systems are like that.
It is very versatile in programming, allowing variations on programmed play, random play, etc to include all 3 disc trays or just one disc. The timer function is also pretty advanced. The only feature I wish it had was the ability to change discs while one disc is still playing.
I shopped around quite a bit before purchasing. 80 W for $120 is a great deal.
