A good basic receiver
Pros
Digital Dolby, universal remote, lots of radio presets
Cons
No DTS, no coax digital input, could use more video inputs, hiss
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
More than enough for all but the most demanding user. Major weakness is limited video inputs.
At this price point, this receiver is probably as good as it gets. While it lacks DTS and coax digital input it has good power, dolby digital, and a very good universal remote. As I noted in the pros and cons, it has a bit more hiss than I would prefer. I will take that though, over the tinny high end I heard from other receivers in this price range.
While the front panel is laid out well the navigation is an annoyance. I would preferred more buttons to the clean front panel but convoluted navigation. The remote is large and well laid out. It has separate controls for a VCR/DVD player as well as a useable set of keys to duplicate the dual knob for moving through the features.
Would've been nice to have a set of inputs on the front panel.
