I purchased this unit because my old JVC receiver just quit working. I was in a way, upset my old receiver quit working but I was due for a new receiver with more features so my hunt began. I knew right away I wanted JVC, the price to feature ratio is much higher than other brands. I was actually... Read full review »

Pros Incredible number of inputs and outputs, brilliant sound, excellent quality.
Cons Wife puts fingernails into my arm while watching Jurassic Park.

I never bothered to look at these amps at Circuit City because they cost quite a bit more than I wanted to spend. I had initially intended to purchase the Yamaha YHT-300, but found the included 5540 amp to be lacking in features I needed. I had to up my price range a bit, and had intended to go for... This receiver was purchased to replace a Philips FR960 whose A/V connections were no longer adequate (no S-video, one optical input) and was a little shy on power for my inefficient passive subwoofer speaker systems. This JVC offers component video switching, five S-video inputs, three S-video... Read full review »

Pros Front inputs, including a USB Port. Very good price.
Cons none

This is one of the best A/V receivers for under $300. I think its miss price, because I found receivers that cost around $300-400, but are not better then the RX8010VBK. I can honestly say this too because, I spent around a total of 30+hours online and offline looking at various a/v receivers.

Cons none

I replaced my old JVC receiver with this receiver. I could not be more pleased. The setup, while lengthy, was reasonably clear. There are inputs for 2 VCRS, DVD, CD, tape player, record player, and more. Optical and coaxial inputs, S video--this receiver has it all as far as I am concerned.

Pros Accepted all my components, DTS & Dolby Digital sound great.
Cons monitor out delivered broken, Overloads

This receiver has been great. Have had it for over 2 years now.

I recently replaced my DVD player - spent some cash to get a good one. Unfortunately now, during loud scenes in movies, the receiver overloads and shuts off.

I'm a little disappointed with this, but would probably... Read full review »
