I like the features and the value and would recommend this to a friend.
I've had my receiver for several months and I'm very happy. I ended up with a new projection TV, DVD Player, Satellite System and receiver all at once so the break-in for all this equipment was a little overwhelming. I honestly struggled a bit with the set-up. I think JVC could do a little better in the manual to make it easier for the layman to understand. The speaker set-up is relatively easy but there are just too many options and they all become confusing after looking at it too long. Can a device have too many features??
I was very pleased with my purchase. I made it online, being one of my first major electronic purchases online and I could not be happier. Thanks to epinions for the help on this end! I ended up paying $80 less than any local electronics retailer that had it in stock (including Circuit City) and this included shipping which was $20.
I'm not one of those electronic geeks that can go into all the specifics about what is and is not great on this receiver. I did my side-by-side comparisons with several models in the price range I was looking in and settled on the JVC for overall features and value. Once I got the hook-ups figured out and played my first DVD (Lord of the Rings Two Towers) I can only say, "AWESOME"! My son sat next to me on the couch and said, "Dad, this is just like being at the movies". As Austin Powers would say,…."Yeah Baby"!
I used my receiver in combination with a Bose Surround Sound speaker system and the results are great. My only complaint is the remote control. I don't think you can make a remote with more or smaller buttons!
